There are two types of VW key fob batteries: CR1632 and CR2032. CR1632 batteries are really only used on older Volkswagen models made before 1999, so it’s likely that your vehicle uses a CR2032.

The materials you’ll need for a successful VW key fob battery replacement are a new battery, a small piece of tape, and a small flathead screwdriver. Wrap the tape around the flathead screwdriver so you don’t accidentally damage the delicate mechanics of the key fob, then just follow these instructions:
